Tree crushes van near college lane in a terrifying accident. Causing traffic chaos in the early school morning students having to divert away from the horrid accident. Disrupting the public as well as students the police were quickly to the scene keeping people clear and away. As the branch snapped at 7:10 in the morning police are still unknown of what caused the fall. Who -  What - Tree falls on van When - 7:35 am on Thursday 24th January  Where - B3268 Lostwithiel Road Why - The van driver, from Bodmin, was unhurt and uninjured but shaken by the incident. Extensive damage was caused to the van.

Top tips to get into journalism/ degree place/ job: Start as soon as you feel ready. (start a separate blog to write about it before university, gives you more confidence, the more you write the better you become, write notes about the game, give it a go, the earlier you start the better, learn from mistakes). Find your niche. (start a blog on it, work at it early, get in depth, get known for writing regularly, known your topic be and expert in it and get recognised in it).  Grow your audience. (get people reading it and sharing it, podcasts). Have fun with it. (make it fun to you,) Try out different forms of content (written/ video/ online/ social media/ podcasts).  Establish contacts. (the more you promote).

Top tips for writing a sports story: Know you audience (age, class, gender). Do your research. Make it interesting (write in a way you would enjoy reading it, put your own spin on it, words you choose). Validation. (who can back up what the story is about, who can give their opinion, what they have said their quotes, make it local). How are you pitching it? (how your going to advertise it? make it sound interesting to your group, relevant).  Where can you add your spin? (local audience). A tight and interesting intro. (crucial, capture the audience from the first line/ sentence, no more than 20-25 words, factual, entertaining).

News can be used for entertainment purposes as well. To provide a distraction of other places people are unable to get to or have little influence over. People making it and presenting it make money off of it. To persuade people. For journalists to make money with their stories. Newspapers help readers become informed citizens and make better decisions by providing lots of facts. Keeping the public informed about important events.
